In the first week that I live in Playa del Carmen again, I do a lot of exploring.. Enjoy another lovely stroll along the beach, wandering through the streets, and admire the street art, charming shops, and restaurants, where all sorts of lively bands playing in the evenings.
I'm also starting to delve deeper into Mexican food and how to prepare it. And every day I search for things to make my apartment a home..But then comes the blow. After doing the last of the shopping, I start to feel unwell. I decide to rest, because I'd walked quite a distance in the heat.
Unfortunately, I woke up with a fever. I've been in bed for a few days and feel very ill. I'm having an allergy attack, which is caused by the air conditioning in my apartment. I'm making an appointment with my homeopathic doctor here.
At the end of the week, I visit Pablo the jeweler. I tell him I've been very ill with my bowels. He tells me it's because of the tortillas and salsa sauces. It's caused by the corn enzyme. Everyone who lives here initially gets sick from this. Later, it gets better.
This weekend, I met Ana and her family at the El Anima concert, part of El Dia de Muertos. It's very cozy and warm here, but everyone has also changed because of the loss of Ana's husband.
Later this week, I'm going to the doctor for my allergies and my intestines. It's so good to see her again. After a thorough consultation, I can get medication for my high blood pressure, allergies, and my intestines. I'll also get a referral to a good dentist.
That same day, I'm going to pick up my medication from the pharmacy. I'm also sending a request to the apartment landlord's office to have my air conditioning cleaned. A technical team will come by at the end of the day. I'm very happy about that.
However, as a result of my physical complaints, I'm starting to think very carefully. The following things stand out:
- The allergy will always return to this place, because I live in the center of
Playa.
- This undermines my soul's mission: to become a good singer and train and
use my voice optimally.
- I need cooler air for my lungs and no burning smells. That was much better in
the neighborhood where I used to live, because I lived next to the jungle.
- I want better air conditioning, where I don't have problems with my lungs.
The air conditioning at the Ibis Hotel in Cancun was of much better quality.
- I miss the greenery of the jungle here.
- The Mexican food is not suitable for my stomach.
- I still have many physical complaints, even though I live so far away from my
daughter and granddaughters.
- I can still hear my daughter saying, "Why don't you go to live in Spain?"
Further internet research reveals that Xabia has one of the healthiest climates in the world, according to the World Health Organization. This means you're much less likely to suffer from asthma and allergies than elsewhere in the world.
Besides the health benefits, there are also the following advantages:
- Many conscious entrepreneurs live there, which will lead to many inspiring
contacts.
- If I live there, I'll be in the same time zone as the Netherlands. That will make
it easier to stay in touch with my daughter and granddaughters.
- The flight from Eindhoven to Valencia is 2 hours and 25 minutes.
- This means my daughter can visit me more often than if I were to stay in
Mexico.
- Valencia is my son's former student city, so we have fond memories here.
- Everything is possible for development here.
After this reflection, I decide to leave Playa del Carmen as my permanent residence. I will definitely return here regularly, because I still love it. But I can't further develop my soul's mission here; for that, I have to travel on to Xabia to build my new life there.
From that moment on, energy starts to drain, such as not being able to withdraw money for rent due to a power outage, not having enough cash to carry around and no cash to give tips for a music band.
Still, going to Mexico was a good choice. Leaving the Netherlands was very difficult for me and Mexico felt familiar. I know the people here, and they're loyal. Furthermore, I had to leave unexpectedly, which meant I couldn't say goodbye to some people properly. Now I've met and talked to everyone, and I've finally been able to say goodbye to Guillermo.
It´s ok now to leave Playa del Carmen On to new adventures!
